Learn Latin music and dance from the inside at AMLA's School!

The Latin School of the Performing Arts (LSPA), located in the heart of Philadelphia's Latino community in the Hunting Park neighborhood, has been offering high quality, authentic Latin music and dance classes to students of all ages since 1986.

Hours of operation:

  • Mondays thru Thursdays, 4:00-9 pm
  • Saturdays, 10 am to 5 pm

Academic Year:

There are two separate sessions in the academic year:

Young salsa students dance in recital
Salseritos dance at student recital
  • Fall: Beginning the second week of September, and ending the second week of December.
  • Spring: Beginning the third week of January, and ending the second week of June.

Group classes meet twice a week for one hour; minimum enrollment is 4 students. Private lessons are once a week for 30 minutes; students may register for one hour if more intensive study is desired.

Registration / tuition:

A registration fee is due at the beginning of each semester, and tuitions fees are paid monthly in advance. Registration fees are waived for AMLA Members - join today!

Student recitals:

Students perform in two recitals each year, one at the end of the fall session, and one at the end of the spring session. Recitals are currently held in the beautiful auditorium at Esperanza Academy.

Berklee Pulse

All AMLA music lessons include 1 hours of Music Theory a week for children. Teens get to train using The Berklee PULSE created by Berklee School of Music. PULSE is Berklee's real time and web-based music education for student's nationwide.
