AMLA’s Artists in Education Program serves as the organizations means of community outreach. Presently the artist in education program presents workshops at schools and local community events. The workshops are titled, “Roots of Puerto Rican Music”, “Roots of Latin Jazz”, and “Roots of Afro-Brazilian Music”. Each workshop is designed to give an overview of music history and performances, which includes audience participation, and last approximately 45 minutes. We have visited over 40 schools and community centers.
Our “Roots” programs are perennial favorites in Philadelphia area schools! In the hands-on segment of each program, students are invited to the stage to interact with the musicians and the audience!
